Ben Mees' second-half header secured a 1-0 win for Burnley over Tottenham Hotspur to give their hopes of staying up a huge boost.

The Clarets had not won in the Premier League since January, but they produced a battling display to claim a vital three points at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Mees, who had earlier hit the post, nodded home from close range in the 65th minute to give Burnley their first away win of the season.

The result leaves Burnley four points clear of the relegation zone with two games remaining.

Tottenham, meanwhile, remain in eighth place and their hopes of qualifying for Europe are all but over.

The defeat was a major setback for Tottenham, who had won their previous three Premier League games.

But they were well beaten by a Burnley side who showed great determination and spirit.

The Clarets had the better chances throughout the game and could have won by more.

They will now head into their final two games of the season full of confidence, while Tottenham must lick their wounds and try to finish the campaign on a high.
